Two airplanes’ wingtips collided Tuesday night at O’Hare Airport as the planes operated by two regional airlines were waiting on the tarmac for their gates to become available.

GoJet Flight 4423 and SkyWest Flight 5433 were waiting for gate space at Terminal 2 at about 7 p.m. when the wingtip of one aircraft struck the other, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The aircraft “taxied safely to the terminals, where passengers exited normally,” the FAA said.

The federal agency said no one was hurt. It’s investigating.

The Chicago Department of Aviation did not respond to a request for details.

In October, two planes struck a baggage cart at O’Hare.
